Keep It Simple: Mix Up Some Delicious Two Ingredient Cocktails

As much as we love complicated cocktails, full of bitters, muddled fruit and garnishes galore, there are days we just want something simple. While we do enjoy juicing fresh limes, mashing those cherries and oranges, and shaking up our infusions, sometimes we need a drink just from the act of making a drink!

If it’s been one of those days and you don’t even have the energy it takes to relax, the simpler the cocktail the better! And what could be simpler than a soda and a shot? It’s kinda like spiking a drink if you think about it. While we can’t condone spiking the community punch, spiking your own drink is just basic cocktail mixing, isn’t it?

So if you’re in the mood for a cocktail and just don’t feel like getting your shaker and strainer dirty, why not make a tasty, no-nonsense cocktail with a few lively bubbles? We’d like to present a few super-simple recipes that take just two ingredients to mix and enjoy: a shot of Northern Oasis Spirits, and a soda.

So simple…y

et so tasty!

Riverbank and Point Root Beer

Pour a shot of Riverbank Spiced Rum over a few ice cubes and top with 6 ounces of Point Root Beer. Our Riverbank is citrus-forward, with a perfect blend of allspice, vanilla, and more, and adding the honey-sweetened Point Root Beer makes a smooth, sweet drink that goes down easy.

Lakeview and Sprite

One shot of Lakeview Vodka over ice, topped off with half a can of Sprite gives you a classic Vodka and soda with a little pep from Sprite’s light citrus flavor. If you’d like to mix it up, we’d recommend substituting some Jones Sour Apple Soda for the Sprite—not only does it turn the drink a lovely green color, it’s lip-smacking good!

Lone Duck with Orange

One shot of chilled Lone Duck Cinnamon Whiskey topped with 6 ounces of your favorite orange soda (Crush, Fanta, you name it) makes so much sense and tastes so good! If you want a slightly smoother experience, substitute Point Orange Cream Soda for straight orange soda, since its extra vanilla with Lone Duck’s smooth punchy cinnamon makes a dynamite combo.

Shorewood and Coke

The old standby! Sometimes nothing beats a Whiskey & Coke. Pour one shot of Shorewood Whiskey over a couple ice cubes and add 6 ounces of Coca-Cola (or your favorite soda—Shorewood goes with anything!). There’s a reason whiskey and Coke is such a classic combination—it just works. And now that Coke has expanded their catalogue, there are so many subtleties to explore by using Coke with Lime, Vanilla Coke, Cherry Coke… This is one simple combination that you’ll never tire of.

We had to include this one because it’s so tasty, and it puts us in mind of our recently departed summer. It’s a shot of Shorewood Whiskey topped with fresh lemonade, and it makes your taste buds dance!

Next time you want a good cocktail but don’t have the time, keep these in mind. We love Triple-Sec, Creme de cacao, fresh lemon, Angostura bitters, and all the other trappings and garnishes of more complex cocktails. Mixing drinks is always a fun, rewarding experience. But you don’t need to get fancy to make a cocktail you’ll love.

It turns out the secret is: Grab your mixer of choice and just add Northern Oasis Spirits!
