Stay Cool with Mint Cocktails!

There’s no denying it: Wisconsinites might love beer, cheese, and fish fries, but we also have ourselves one heckuva sweet tooth. We like our brandy Old Fashioned sweet and enjoy good dessert drinks like grasshoppers and brandy alexanders.

So, move over green beer! With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, the grasshopper is in good company! Whether you’re getting together to raise a socially-distant glass, or leading a Zoom toast with friends, we’ve got a few recipes that’ll make your shamrock shake!

Actually, a mint shake sounds like a splendid idea. Break out your blender and get ready for a…

Thin Mint Duck

½ cup Milk (or Half & Half for an even richer experience)
2 cups Edy’s Chocolate Ice Cream
1 oz. Crème de Menthe liquor
2 oz. Lone Duck Cinnamon Whiskey
2 oz. Riverbank Spiced Rum
8-10 Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies

Put ice cream, milk, and cookies in blender. Blend well so cookies completely incorporate. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend. Serve in a small cocktail glass with whipped topping and garnish with Andes Mint shavings or a Thin Mint cookie. You can substitute 10 Andes Mints if you’ve already eaten your stash of Thin Mints, though you may need to re-blend between servings. The Andes Mints tend to settle!

Or, if you like your ice cream drinks a little pared down, try a…

Chocolate Martini

3 oz. Lakeview Vodka

Rim the martini glass with chocolate syrup. Shake the other ingredients together over ice and strain into the martini glass. Garnish with a curl of shaved chocolate. For variations, you can use 1 oz. each of Crème de Cacao & Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, or use a vanilla-infused Lakeview Vodka.
